: Martin O'Connor married a Margaret Muldowney or Mullowney. They never left Ireland. Martin was supposed to have been killed, but I have no idea if this is true or not. Their sons left for America first and then their daughters left and eventually made it up to Illinois via New Orleans and the MIssissippi River to their brothers. I have never found port of entry papers for anyone! I did find on the 1900 Federal Census, that Winnifred O'Connor Stack stated that she came to the U.S in 1852.

: Martin and Margaret produced these children that I know of:

: 1) Patrick O'Connor who wed Mary Kelly 12 Sept 1858 Peoria, Peoria Co, Illinois

: Patrick and Mary's children were:

: Martin
: Thomas
: Margaret
: John Henry

: 2) John O'Connor married one Margareth Hayes

: Their children were:

: Thomas
: John
: Margaret
: Bridget
: Martin

: 3) Winnifred O'Connor married John Stack 25 Nov 1855 Peoria, Peoria Co, Illinois

: Their children were:

: Mary Stack
: Margaret Stack
: James Thomas Stack
: Anna E. Stack
: John S. Stack
: Bartholomew Matthew Stack
: Winnifred Bernice
: Edward Stack
: Martin Andrew Stack
: William Stack

: 4) Hanorah O'Connor married John Priest 11 June 1860 Peoria, Peoria Co, Illinois. Hanorah's tombstone states that she was born 10 May 1842 Co Mayo, Ireland.

: Their children were:

: Thomas Priest
: Agnes Priest
: Joseph Priest
: John Edward
: Andrew
: Mary
: Elias
: Elinor Catherine

: 5) Alice O'Connor married Daniel Crimmins 18 June 1871 Illinois unkown location

: They produced no children. They lived for 38 years in Galesburg, Knox Co, Illinois.

: And I believe there was another sister named Bridget O'Connor who lived in the East.

: Any help will be most appreciated.

It's a long stretch but my husbands great-grandfather was (probably) William and he immigrated to the U.S. in 1852 with his wife (name unknown) and two boys, William 4, and James Martin 2. He settled in Memphis, TN. Great-grandfather William was said to have been in the queen's service and was given a diamond by her. My husband remembers seeing the diamond which had been made into a tie pin when he was a young boy. We've often wondered what "queen's service" meant and why he settled in Memphis since there doesn't seem to have been any relatives here. James Martin was my husband's grandfather and he had a good friend by the name of Walsh and we think the families were friends before they came here. I'm replying because of the 1852 date, the name Martin, and the mention of Walsh. I haven't found any record of their arrival but it seems logical that he may have come by the way of New Orleans, the Mississippi River and just stopped in Memphis.
Your thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
