Hello Ann,

My great great grandparents are PATRICK CONNORS and ANNE DEMPSEY. I do not know when they were born but it was probably between 1815 - 1835. According to the marriage certificate of their daughter JOHANNA CONNORS, Patrick was a shoemaker and the family lived on Moonteen/Mounteen Street in Thomastown, Kilkenny. I think they also had a son WILLIAM CONNORS.

JOHANNA CONNORS, my great grandmother, was born abt. 1855. She had two sons in a 'spouseless relationship'. The eldest son, PATRICK CONNORS, is my grandfather. He was born June 9, 1880 in Thomastown, Kilkenny and died on January 4, 1964 in Vancouver, British Columbia. The second son, HENRY CONNORS, was born July 12, 1886 in Thomastown, Kilkenny.

JOHANNA CONNORS married RICHARD HANRAHAN (born December 8, 1830 in Thomastown, Kilkenny) on February 9, 1891 in Thomastown, Kilkenny. At the time of the 1901 Census, they were living in Thomastown, Kilkenny and had three daughters, MAGGIE (born about 1893), MARY (born about 1894) and JOHANNA (born about 1898). At the time of the 1901 Census, my grandfather, PATRICK CONNORS and his younger brother HENRY CONNORS were at home…both were listed with the surname HANRAHAN.

Although our Henry Connors are not the same person, the name Henry is not very common (especially at that time) and the surname Connors was not that common in Thomastown Kilkenny at that time.

As they say "hope springs eternal"...perhaps our Connors are related.

: Trying to find details of Henry and his son Michael O'Connor.

: The only evidence we have is a letter from the commonwealth office stating that Michael (my great great grandfather) came from Thomastown, Kilkenny and his father's name was Henry. I have evidence that Michael was indeed in Thomastown in the 1851 Census, but throughout his life he claimed to come from Co Carlow.

: In 1851 he was working as a clerk for the East India Company and he then joined the army and went to India where he lived and died in 1900.

: He claimed to have "run away from home" but he also claimed to have been 20 years of age when he joined the army.

: I am getting absolutely nowhere! Can anyone point me in the right direction?
